Title: The Influence of Scholarly Literacy on Translation Activities—A Study on the Translation of Chinese Classical Literature by Spanish Sinologist Gabriel García-Noblejas Sánchez-Cendal

Abstract: In recent years, the translation and dissemination of Chinese classical literature in Spanish-speaking countries have gradually gained the attention of the academic circles, and the related sinologists and translators have been specially studied, but the research on the influence of their scholastic qualities on the translation activities mainly focuses on the selection of translation objects and the strategy of “thick translation”; fewer studies have systematically discussed the scholastic qualities of sinologists and their influence on the various levels of translation activities. Fewer studies have systematically discussed the scholastic qualities of sinologists and their influence on translation activities at various levels. In this paper, we take García-Noblejas’s translation activities of classical Chinese literature as the object of study, and discuss his scholarly qualities from the three levels of his theoretical study of translation, his interpretation of translation objects, and his criticism of the translation of western translations of classical Chinese literature, and at the same time, we examine their impact on translation activities, in order to enrich the connotation of the study of translators, and to provide reference for the study of the western translations of classical Chinese literature.
